Nanette Fabray!

Actress Nanette Fabray was the secret square for the last time this weekend, at the age of 97! Fabray was a staple of the stage and small screen in the ’40s, ’50s, and ’60s, winning a Tony in 1949 for the musical Love Life, and yes, she did tour in the company of No, No, Nanette, which was not an autobiography. She won multiple Emmy awards for Sid Caesar’s Your Show of Shows follow-up Caesar’s Hour, before settling into a long routine of guest appearances and game shows, including Hollywood Squares, What’s My Line?, The Carol Burnett Show, and The Love Boat. In the ’90s she appeared on Coach, playing the mother of Hayden’s wife Christine, portrayed by Nanette’s real-life nice, Shelley Fabares – Nanette was born Ruby Bernadette Fabares. Huh!

And Bats nabs a third score of the year, 13 points for Fabray moving him into third overall here in the early going. Nice job!

Replacement pick due by next Monday!
