Donald Hall and Richard Benjamin Harrison!

It’s always good to try and look your best, especially in front of the international press

The Death game threw us an opportunity to broaden the readership today through extensive counter programming, with former U.S. Poet Laureate Donald Hall and reality TV star Richard Benjamin Harrison sharing the chariot to the great beyond, at ages 89 and 77, respectively! National Medal of Arts winner Hall wrote dozens of books, including children’s (winning a Caldecott in 1979), memoirs, essays, and verse, and was the first poetry editor of The Paris Review in the 1950s. He was named the 14th Poet Laureate of the United States in 2006. Referred to as the “Old Man,” apparently since he was 38 years old, Harrison was the co-star of the History Channel’s long running reality series Pawn Stars, filmed at his World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop in Las Vegas. He appeared with less frequency in recent seasons of the show’s 522 episodes, and was the subject of a long-running rumor that he’d actually died in 2016, which today appears to be wholly untrue. Pawn Stars success spawned a half dozen spin-off shows, such as Pawn Stars UK and American Restoration, as well as imitations, such as the classy Hardcore Pawn.

And the rich keep getting richer as for the third time in 18 days, Dondos gets on the board, picking up 21 points for Hall, their ninth death of the year, while Mike M. grabs his second tally of the month on Harrison, good for 33 points! They both slide up the overall leaderboard to positions three and eight, as the first half of year twelve winds down. Well done, folks!

Replacement picks due by next Monday!
