Joe Jackson!

Family patriarch and band manager Joe Jackson brought down the curtain easy as 1, 2, 3 for the last time today, at the age of 89! Not exactly the cuddliest of figures, Joe’s rigorous and somewhat violent rehearsal techniques were nonetheless responsible for propelling The Jackson 5 to wild international success in the late ’60s/early ’70s, and the subsequent massive solo careers of Michael and Janet in the ’80s and ’90s. Also, he’s responsible for La Toya. And Tito. He and Katherine had ten children in all, plus he fathered a bonus kid from a lengthy side affair. He was portrayed by no less an acting figure than Freddy “Boom Boom” Washington himself, Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs in the less-than-flattering 1992 miniseriesĀ The Jacksons: An American Dream.

And Nick manages his second tally of the year, picking up 21 points on the frequently drafted Jackson, moving him to eighth overall! Ten Year Man Jackson bounced from Michael in ’08, to Sam in ’10, Denis in ’11, and Adam from ’12 to ’16, before landing with Nick last year. Nicely done!

Replacement pick due by next Wednesday!
